Caffeine side effect

Over the last few years, I was stuck in a vicious cycle of fatigue and caffeine. The more I became fatigued, the more I craved sugar, gluten, and caffeine. These food substances were destructive to my health, which made my fatigue even worse.

Together, they were a very bad combo. Coffee is so acidic, that it had not been not good for my dental health either. This combination increases insulin resistance and destabilizes blood sugar.

In less than two years, I had gotten a tsunami of cavities. I cherish my teeth so much, it hurt for me to lose so much of my teeth structure to cavities.

Now I have cut out sugar, gluten, and caffeine. It is easier to get rid of them all at once, rather than doing it slowly.

Adrenal fatigue

Caffeine can be healthy for people who are already very healthy, but for those who have health problems, caffeine usually worsens their problems. For people who are experiencing adrenal fatigue, their stress level has already exceeded their capacity to manage it. Caffeine puts even more stress on the body, when what they actually need is rest.

For someone with adrenal fatigue, caffeine hinders recovery, which can lead to obesity, diabetes, hormonal imbalances, insomnia, high blood pressure, and more.

If you crave energy, check out vitamins for fatigue, instead of caffeine.

Gut health and indigestion

The acidity and chemicals in coffee irritate the gut. It can weaken the lining of the gut, which causes leaky gut syndrome and other digestive issues (such as acid reflux), which leadsto inflammation and autoimmune diseases.

You see? The problem usually starts small, and builds up slowly until everything spins out of control.

Coffee can create bad gut flora in the gut, because coffee overstimulates the stomach and causes it to send undigested foods into the intestines prematurely.

Caffeine causes spikes in blood sugar, which feeds candida. High blood sugar pulls calcium from the bones, and weaken the bone structure, including the teeth, which is why coffee can be so bad for the teeth.

The health of your guts links to your overall health. One of the downsides of bad gut flora is that it creates cravings. Bad bacteria in the gut makes us crave junk foods and sugar.

insomnia, anxiety, and depression

Caffeine lowers the production of serotonin, which is also known as the happy hormone. Serotonin regulates sleep, mood, bowel function, and energy levels. On the other hand, caffeine hinders sleep, and increases the likelihood of anxiety and depression. Caffeine is a loan shark: It lends you a short burst of jittery energy, but takes back more than it gives. The bad news is this is how caffeine gets people addicted.

associative addictions

When people buy coffee, it usually comes with sugar and cream and many times also a donut. The aroma in the coffee shop brings cravings for every dietary sin of life. Remember, pasteurized milk, sugar, and gluten are just as bad, if not worse, than caffeine.

When you have a big latte from Starbucks, it is like a meal. For many people, it is breakfast or lunch, but there are no nutrients and minerals, just empty calories.

According to the book The Power of Habit, this is a formula for addiction.

loss of minerals

Coffee drinkers lose important minerals such as calcium, magnesium, and potassium through urine. With a deficiency in these minerals can lead to symptoms such as fatigue, migraines, insomnia, and much more.

How to cut off caffeine addiction

Replace your coffee habit with healthy alternatives, such as herbal teas. It helps if you quit sugar, gluten, and pasteurized milk at the same time.

Self hypnosis has helped me quit craving junk foods. When I do it myself, it works for 3 weeks at a time. You could purchase a CD from an expert, instead of doing it on yourself, or see a hypnotherapist in your local area.

Combine hypnosis with ideas from 'The Power of Habit', and you will be able to quit caffeine in time. Don't wait for your health to show signs of going downhill before you take action!
